Old York Shootists
Current Range Plans
Old York Shootists are shooting on the new Cowboy Range (G) at Brocks Gap.
Range G (Cowboy Range) has been completed and part of the 1000 yard long range will be completed during the next phase. We need your ideas, suggestions and help with the store fronts that need to be built at the front of each of the five shooting bays that we will have to shoot on at our monthly meetings. These will be our bays to share with the Vulcan Long Rifles and the Gallant Gunfighters. We have started construction of the storefronts at the shooting bays and placed the Sheriff’s Office on the other side of the street (where the gallery will be on top of the buildings). We will need all the help we can get for the next several Old York Shootists work days to get our town closer to being completed.
A water-well is going to be drilled and bathrooms built in several areas so there will not be the continued expense of the portable toilets. Electrical power is also in the plans in the near future and with the water we should be able to have some hookups for campers too.
The diagram below shows range “G” with a parking lot on both sides of the range and next to the 1000 yard range, which we plan to use after each monthly match. There are also 8 Action Pistol bays below our range now that we will be able to use during our two-day shoots

There are five bays 60 ft. wide and 150 ft. deep which will allow us to move forward as we shoot instead of being stuck on a firing line as we have been in the past. We have five 60 ft. sections of storefronts to plan build (that is 300 ft. of our town to build). We have a good start on the building of our town with the addition of the Church, Parlor House Pearls, Sheriff's Office and the Mortuary as shown in the pictures below.

A 12 foot walk/drive through should be left in each shooting bay opening but can be covered with privacy fence panels or storefronts that can be opened when access to the bay is needed.
Construction of the storefronts in B2 is going on now and construction in B4 should begin shortly after B2 is finished. We will then need the corral in B1 and the berm ends enclosed to finish up the construction at the front of the shooting bays. B2 will have the Saloon and the Jail. B4 will have the Bank and the Bath and Barber. A parsonage will be built beside the church and and addition will be built beside Parlor House Pearls to fill that bay.
Remember that each of these shooting bays is 50 ft. wide and 150 ft. deep which will allow us plenty of room to move side to side under cover of the storefronts when the weather is not cooperating and forward when we want to add that movement into our scenarios.
When we get all of the storefronts on the shooting bays we will still have the other side of the road in front of the spectator gallery to put buildings there. This will make the road look as if you are on Main Street in our old west town. I am sure that all kinds of cacti, flora and fauna will be place in just the right areas to make our town just perfect.
We are sharing this range with the Vulcan Long Rifles and Gallant Gunfighters so we want their comments and ideas as well as everyone else to make this part of the Brocks Gap expansion one of the best parts for everyone to enjoy Cowboy Action Shooting.
